Title: Contour Tracing in Digital Images (currently active)
Guide: Mr Nitin L Narrappanwar
This research work has been taken up to bring out a mathematical approach to boundary tracing. Contour tracing is the first step in the
feature extraction process. The extracted boundary is the input for boundary description. The algorithm developed has a mathematical
basis. It decides the “next boundary pixel”, using a well proven and time tested concept of vector cross product and dot product, as against
table based prioritization. Providing mathematical basis essentially generalizes the boundary tracing concept.
Outcome of Research: Paper titled “A Vector Approach to Boundary Traversing” accepted for oral presentation at 3rd Indian International Conference on Artificial Intelligence.

Organization : I2IT
(Pune)
Designation : Student
Lab Assistant (part time) (DSP LAB)
Duration : Feb 2007 till date.
Job profile : To maintain the Lab after college
hours and help the students who are working on
projects in Lab. Implemented
Real VNC server in the lab to manage all the computers using a single server.

Title : 3D Rendering of Computed Tomography Images Duration of Project : 3 months
Team
Size : 1 member
Programming
Language: C++
Description : The objective of this project is 3D rendering, where a
three dimensional structure is created from several 2D slices of CT scans. This
gives ability to a doctor to observe a particular entity separately in 3D
environment, thus improving the diagnosis. This was performed by the use of Marching Cube Algorithm, for the creation
of 3D from a stack of 2D images. The implementation was done in Windows XP
environment, with Dev C++ IED, using CImg Library (open source image processing
library).
- Title : Translation, Rotation and Scale Invariant Shape
Matching
Duration
of Project : 2 months
Team Size : 2 members
Programming Language : C++
Description : The objective of this project was to identify the
irregular shapes with
invariance towards translation, rotation and scaling. This was performed by using Generalized Hough Transform and Fourier Boundary Descriptors. The
implementation was done in Windows XP environment, with Dev C++ IED, using CImg
Library (open source image processing library).
My Role: Requirements gathering, functional designing and implementation (coding).
3.
Title : I2C Based Temperature Controller
Duration of Project : 2 weeks
Team Size : 2
members
Programming Language : Embedded C
Description: :This is a hardware unit developed for controlling temperature of any entity (using a relay) with an
accuracy of ±3 degree centigrade in the range of 0 to 125 degree centigrade,
using I2C enabled temperature sensor (TC74). The programming was done in Embedded
C using Keil uVision2 for 89C51.
My Role: Requirements gathering, functional
designing and
implementation (coding).
Title: On/Off
Control and Data Communication Through Power Line Duration of
Project : 4 months
Team Size : 4 members
Programming Language : C
Bit rate achieved : 300bps.
Description : This project involves transmitting information using an electrical
power distribution network as a communication channel. This way of
communication helps in bridging the gap existing between the electrical and
communication network. It involved designing FSK modulator and demodulator,
which were connected to two different computers through their respective serial
ports (COM1). This project if enhanced can be very well used within the
building to form a LAN connection and even to control electrical devices.
Hardware Used: XR 2206/2211 dedicated FSK modulator and demodulator
respectively, voltage regulator IC’s 7812, 7805 and 7912, signal amplifier
LM324 and RS232 to TTL (and vice-versa) converter IC MAX 232.
My Role: Design and implementation of the hardware and the software required
for the on/off control (of electrical devices).
Highlight
of the project
: This project was sponsored by, Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), Indian
Institute of Science, Bangalore.
